Back to European Birds |
I went on a clear sunny afternoon. Water in the lagoons was high so there were only a few small islands. Afew examples of most birds were there. Canada and Brent Geese, Shelduck, Mallard, Shovelr (many), Widgeon (many), Teal, Pintail, Coot, Moorhen, White Egret, Curlew, Redshank, Oystercatcher (very few), Lapwing, Turnstone, Dunlin, Ruff, Black tailed Godwit (i), Golden Plover, Usual gulls, crows, Starling, woodpigeon |

| A P51 Mustang | ||
| My favourite Lapwing portrait | He insisted on this | |
| One of the few islands was shared with Golden Plover | And Shelduck on guard of course | |
| Brents setting off | Flying past | |
| Brents arriving back | Lapwing | |
| A pale winter male Ruff. I mistook it for a leucistic Godwit | Two white Ruff with sleepy Widgeon | |
| Turnstone - a favourite at Pennington | Another favourite - an essential site and sound of the marshes | |
| Dunlin. Just because he is common he should not be ignored | Always elegant White Egret | |
| Dunlin, Redshank and a single Curlew | ||
| Teal. The first failed to encourage his mate to look at the camera. I like the wa he frames himself with nice oval frame | ||
| Shovelor with Pintail | With his mate | |
| Here the sun is showing his purple head | Greenfinch loudly proclaiming spring might be here | |
